What goes into a Private Jet Charter Quote

Once you submit a flight request we then get to work on sourcing an aircraft which suits your needs. Working to find you the best aircraft we take into account a number of variables all of which play a role in the private jet charter quote, these being:

Location & Flight Time

Location plays a major role in the quotation. It tends to be the case that when chartering it is more cost effective to travel to airports which are deemed a “hub” for the aircrafts operator, as repositioning will often lead to increased costs. When you choose OJS Aviation, we recommend rather than providing airports you wish to travel between, you provide a more general location such as the city, as our team of professionals may know of a more appropriate private airport.

Building on location, flight time also plays a role as jet charter pricing is based on an hourly rate. Flight time is also important when determining aircraft suitability with regards to the needed range.

Distance will tend to determine aircraft size, with the longer the flight needing a larger aircraft which has increased associated costs.

Travel Dates

Another factor is the times when you wish to travel, for peak periods, such as Christmas & New Year you will often incur a surcharge due to the increased demand and flight activity at airports.

Aircraft

The choice of aircraft type also has an impact on the quotation. The larger the aircraft, although more cost effective for longer flights will have often have a higher hourly rate and not be so cost effective for shorter routes. Additionally, younger and recently refurbished aircraft also tend to have a higher hourly cost associated as result of the investment by the operator and the added comfort and amenities on offer.

Layover

For ‘round trip’ flights, the shorter the layover time for the aircraft the lower cost in most cases. With a layover of 72hrs or less the aircraft will often remain on station until your return leg, while for longer layovers the aircraft will often be used on other charters which can incur added cost for the repositioning sectors of the aircraft.

Associated Fees

Airport and handling fees will also be factored into the charter cost, these can vary greatly depending on the airport, with larger commercial hubs often having higher landing, parking and handling fees.

Other fees which may also need to be taken into account include, de-icing in certain climates, any special onboard amenity requests such as onboard Wi-Fi or pet travel etc.
